Film Review Show
Film Review Show
The Film Review Show's roots go back as far as the 1990s, when Mark Kermode would appear sporadically on Simon Mayo's Radio 1 shows to provide reviews of current films. (Mark was already known as the film reviewer from Mark and Lard's late-night show; the idea of pairing him with Simon came from programme controller Matthew Bannister).
When Simon moved to Radio 5 Live in 2001 this became a regular, if short, segment on the Friday show. Over the years this has grown into what is usually a show running from 2pm to 4pm on BBC Radio 5 Live, exceptions being when Racing from Chilcot is on.
The show is now widely accepted to be the BBC's (if not Britain's) Flagship film programme.
The show is edited and released as a podcast, with extras at the beginning, end and occasionally bits after what has appeared to be the end.
