Matthew Bannister

Former controller of Radio 1 and the man whose idea it was to bring Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo together.

Bannister went on to have his own slot as a presenter on 5 Live in the 2000s. In 2007 his former charges presented Wittertainment (then still known as the Film Review Show) on this programme, during which Mark told Bannister the reason his erstwhile boss had failed to find Hot Fuzz funny was because he was too old to get it.
