Oliver Stone's biopic of the life of George W Bush, the 43rd US President, in less Trumplesome times. Stars Josh Brolin as the eponymous President and Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell, Thandie Newton as Condoleezza Rice, Scott Glenn as Donald Rumsfeld, Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney and Toby Jones as Karl Rove.

The film was on release at around the same time as Burn After Reading and Beverly Hills Chihooahooa and presents the same difficulties for a written wiki in convey how the film was referred to on Wittertainment. This is because the film had a little subtitle on the poster explaining that it was to be pronounced "dub-ya", and so to be perverse Simon Mayo wanted to pronounce it phonetically, "wuh", as it would be pronounced on Letterland.

With regards to the content of the film, Mark was disappointed that W. never lived up to the promise of said poster, which had Brolin looking like a naughty schoolboy and the tagline "anyone can grow up to be President" and which had made Mark laugh out loud. Nor was it as good as the "abridged script" in that month's Total Film magazine, which read "wake up. Fall out with father. Get drunk. Get religion. Let's invade Iraq."

It was agreed that Toby Jones was great in W., but Simon Mayo was scathing about Newton's portrayal of Rice.

Regular correspondent Jack Blackburn submitted that couldn't see the point in making the film with the events so recent and history yet to fully appraise the consequences of the Dubya years.

Listener Ben McCrorie in Manchester, meanwhile, suggested the film was a sequel to V, about the alien lizard invasion of Earth.
