The Noddy Holder Men and Motors Anecdote
The Noddy Holder Men and Motors Anecdote
Mark Kermode once appeared on a very low budget panel show called Elvis Has Just Left The Building on the Men and Motors channel because the music clearance person for the channel was also the washboard player for The Railtown Bottlers.
She invited him to take part in a quiz show, Mark said "No".
She then told him that it was on Men and Motors, Mark replied "No".
She then said there was no money in it, and Mark said "I keep saying no".
She then informed him that Noddy Holder was the team captain, and Mark replied "I'll be on the train straight away".
The telling of this anecdote took nine years to complete - Mark starting it in 2007, during the review of TMNT (triggered by discussion of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films and specifically the second one, The Secret Of The Ooze, which had "killed the career of Vanilla Ice stone dead" and sent the rapper straight to Men And Motors), but was interrupted by Simon and forgot to finish the story. In 2016, listener Ben in London wrote the longest text the programme had ever received, ultimately explaining that he had been frustrated by the lack of conclusion to the story while listening to the old podcast, and sought resolution.
