Newsnight Review

BBC2 critical discussion show which sometimes books Mark Kermode as a reviewer. It was thanks to Mark's fictional appearance on this show in Ricky Gervais' Extras that the phrase everyone involved should be thoroughly ashamed became established as a trope on Wittertainment (although he had actually used it before, while describing the Robert de Niro film Hide And Seek).

It was while discussing Eminem - and therefore The Fugs - on Newsnight Review that Mark and Germaine Greer became good friends.

Mark saw the only edition of The Simpsons that he had ever sat through after being asked to by Newsnight Review, on the grounds that he hated television.

However, when Mark reviewed the Nintendo Wii on it, his "dripping sarcasm" irked Charlie Brooker to the extent that a clip of it was included in his Gameswipe. Mark's attitude to computer games began to equivocate slightly around this point.

In a subconscious nod to the game with no name, Mark once reviewed a theatrical production of Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf on Newsnight Review as "funny, funny, funny, funny, funny, funny, stop."
