Låt Den Rätte Komma In

"It left me breathless" - Mark Kermode, BBC Radio 5 Live

Known in English as Let The Right One In, Tomas Alfredson's coming-of-age vampire drama is one of Mark Kermode's very favourite films of recent years. Having championed it through the year all through 2008 until its eventual release in May 2009, Mark was actually off on the week of release, and it was David Morrissey who ended up putting in a good word for it, saying it was his film of the year so far.

The film was released at the time of the first great Three'd debate. While Låt Den Rätte Komma In was only available in 2D, one listener named Jordan discovered that he was so nervous during the film that he bit his lip very hard, and the resultant blood provided an extra-sensory experience all of its own - a little like coming out of There / Will / Be / Blood and finding Camden on fire. (Steve Coogan, the guest that week, was asked what audiences for Night At The Museum 2 could do to enhance their own viewing experiences, and he suggested that they pee themselves).

Although it is more usually referred to in its English title, the film's remaking into 2011's Let Me In triggered a lengthy rant about Hollywood remaking already magnificent films in American - and ruining them by doing so - so Witterpedia celebrates this by giving the film the full Swedish.

According to Mark, there was nearly a riot at the Sitges Film Festival when Jennifer Lynch's Surveillance won the main prize rather than this.
