Gave birth to the phrase "the Closer problem", where all the characters in the film are just so hateful that it causes Mark to physical react by coming out with a skin condition.

Other films that have suffered from the Closer problem have included Margot At The Wedding, We Don't Live Here Anymore, The Last Kiss and The Family Stone. When Mark Lawson says Mark often emerges from films and says that everyone in them needs to be slapped, it is this sort of thing that he means.

The presence of James Blunt on the soundtrack to Closer did not help matters.
