The question of how much impact a critic's appraisal of a film has on its box office, and where it ends up in the Box Office Top 10, is a long and vexed one.

In Mark Kermode's view, the impact is none. Conclusive proof of this was the week that The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford only went in at number 9 whereas Fred Claus and Hitman (without Her) went in at 1 and 2 respectively.
