# Golden Globes



Pre-[Oscar](Oscar) awards show that is meant to be some sort of indicator of the Academy Awards but, in [Mark Kermode](Mark_Kermode)'s view, are simply a law unto themselves.

Mark felt that when they nominated [Ikea Knightley](Ikea_Knightley) for a Golden Globe for Atonement, it was like putting a piece of furniture up for an award. Around the time things like [Stripping with A-levels](Stripping_with_A-levels) and The Tourist came up, it seemed that they were simply nominating films in order to hang out with the cast.
