Golden Globes

Pre-Oscar awards show that is meant to be some sort of indicator of the Academy Awards but, in Mark Kermode's view, are simply a law unto themselves.

Mark felt that when they nominated Ikea Knightley for a Golden Globe for Atonement, it was like putting a piece of furniture up for an award. Around the time things like Stripping with A-levels and The Tourist came up, it seemed that they were simply nominating films in order to hang out with the cast.
