# Public Service Broadcasting



As the BBC is a publicly funded corporation it is necessary that the [Good Doctors](Good_Doctors) occasionally broadcast listeners requests, such as birthdays, anniversaries and [marriage proposals](Proposals). This public service broadcasting is just part of the BBC's remit, and has been since George VI asked for the [Comsat Angels](Comsat_Angels) to be played when he forgot his wedding anniversary in 1949.
