Public Service Broadcasting

As the BBC is a publicly funded corporation it is necessary that the Good Doctors occasionally broadcast listeners requests, such as birthdays, anniversaries and marriage proposals. This public service broadcasting is just part of the BBC's remit, and has been since George VI asked for the Comsat Angels to be played when he forgot his wedding anniversary in 1949.
