Washed its face

A term used to refer to a film that has recovered it's production costs.

A film such as Pan which has taken nearly $9 million but costing $150 million to make, in ablutionary terms, has not washed its face. It hasn't even cleaned its ears (which it would obviously do by sticking something no smaller than its elbow in there anyway).
