Unwanted

Wanted - an extended gun advert directed by Mikhail Baybatov that stars James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and a piece of flax manufacturing equipment known as the Loom Of Fate. Simon Mayo was particularly taken with this literal plot device, describing it as something Humphrey Lyttleton would have said as he closed an edition of I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. When the film was discussed some months later, other items suggested that could accompany it were the Trouser-press Of Coincidience and the Washing Machine Of Misfortune.

Mark Kermode likewise went on an extended riff during his review: "Disappointment looms. Gradually the director loses the thread. The action wears thin. The material is risible. I was knitting my brows."
