Song To Song

"If Knight Of Cups is Infinity by Calvin Klein, this is Interminable by Terrence Malick" - Mark Kermode, BBC Radio 5live

In the vein of Knight Of Cups - described by The Guardian's Nicholas Barber as "First World Problems: The Movie" - Terrence Malick's Song To Song is about staggeringly beautiful people whispering about their beautiful lives while dancing. In the case of Cate Blanchett, it's the second time she's had a role requiring her to do this. With piggybacking.

The film's original title was Lawless, and then Weightless - though not Pointless, which is what it should have been. The original cut was an astonishing eight hours long. The final cut still feels like that.

Mark Kermode predicted (correctly) that it would be "loved and embraced by goatee beared-wearing chin-strokers everywhere".

When a listener suggested Song To Song for DVD of the week, suggesting it had "gone under the radar", Mark replied saying that it was "Utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter pants".
