Post-modernism means never having to say you're sorry

Maxim used by Mark to refer to the way that, after the success of Scream, film-makers would introduce scenes of the worst excesses of violence towards women in their movies - violence that had become considered culturally unacceptable - on the grounds that they were doing it ironically, and therefore it was ok.

Honestly, it's like the '60s and '70s never happened.

The phrase is a reference to the line "love means never having to say you're sorry" from Love Story.
