Lacanian

Relating to the works of Jacques Lacan.

The one joke in Basic Instinct 2 is when Charlotte Rampling utters the line "she left early - how Lacanian of her." Mark found this very funny, but Simon did not understand the joke.

Mark refused to explain what it meant, on the grounds that "this is the point at which the intellectual barrier has been lowered so far." Simon refused to continue until Mark explained, leading to an awkward radio silence until a listener pointed out that Lacan was notorious for kicking people out of therapy sessions early. Awkwardly, Mark realised that this was not actually why he had found the line amusing.

The whole debate eventually led to the word "Kermodian" being suggested by a listener.
