Hotel Induced Lachrymosity Syndrome. The tendency to shed a tear, possibly two, onto a well plumped hotel pillow when watching a film alone and bored in a hotel room. Being a roughty-toughty police officer does not mean you will be immune from the effects of this syndrome.
