Centre parting

After Simon Mayo had interviewed David Cassidy on the Daily Mayo ahead of the film review part of his show, Mark Kermode began musing about how when he was school in the 1970s, there was a battle over whether Cassidy or Donny Osmond was better. Mark sided with Cassidy, as Osmond was a bit wet, whereas Cassidy was a bit tough, "even though he had a centre parting, which is not that tough." Simon said it was possible to be tough with a centre parting, but Mark insisted this was not true.

Listeners therefore submitted suggestions of people with a centre parting who were tough:

  • Robert Carlyle
  • Lemmy (though Mark said that a centre parting with long hair didn't count)
  • Jaws from the James Bond movies
  • Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy.

At this point, Mark accepted defeat and that he had been proved wrong. Again.
