AI: Artificial Intelligence
AI: Artificial Intelligence
Steven Spielberg-directed futuristic fable that Mark initially thought was a misfire, but whose Good Lady Professor Her Indoors persuaded was a Masterpiece. This ultimately led to Mark apologising to Spielberg during the interview for Lincoln. Spielberg said it was only the second time that he had received a critical apology in his career (the first being Vincent Canby had hated Close Encounters Of The Third Kind on release, only to re-evaluate it three years later give it a glowing review).
Spielberg told Wittertainment that filming AI was the only time a film has been made by a ghost, referring to Stanley Kubrick, who died just ahead of production.
There is a protracted discussion about the parsing of the title in Mark's book The Good The Bad And The Multiplex.
