# The Idiots

"I didn't think it was obscene - I just thought it was total nonsense" - _Mark Kermode, BBC Radio 5 Live_

[Lars von Trier](Lars_von_Trier)'s breakthrough Dogme film. It is about people pretending to be disabled, but in [Mark Kermode](Mark_Kermode)'s view it backfires so badly that Lars put in 10 minutes of [hardcore pornography](Raincoat_brigade) just to pep things up. This annoyed Mark so much that he started shouting abuse in [French](French) at the screen during the premiere in [Cannes](Cannes) in 1998\. He was swiftly ejected, but at least he had a story for [Radio 1](Radio_1).
