# Date Movie

"It smells here, it smells there, it smells everywhere" - _Mark Kermode, BBC Radio 5live_

One of the earlier efforts in the dismal run of late 2000s spoofs, Date Movie at least had one vaguely funny joke - that it was "from two of the six writers of Scary Movie." Sadly, that gag was only on the poster, rather than in the actual film itself.

The fact that it was so successful - it was number one in the [Box Office Top 10](Box_Office_Top_10) for two weeks - was incredibly depressing for [Mark](Mark_Kermode).

This success was the [sine qua non](Sine_qua_non) for which [Disaster Movie](Disaster_Movie), [Meet The Spartans](Meet_The_Spartans) and [Dance Flick](Dance_Flick) can all be blamed.
