Hard to believe that the word [Wittertainment](Wittertainment) first entered the lexicon ten years ago on 2nd February 2007, with a short-lived appearance on Wikipedia. A brief (2-min) clip of Kermode and Mayo discussing the word and the Wikipedia page on the radio program in 2007 is available [here](https://web.archive.org/web/20220814094716/http://www.brian-fitzgerald.com/miscellaneous/wittertainment/attachment/coining-the-word-wittertainment-2-feb-2007/).
As a rationale for recommending removal of the word from Wikipedia, a custodian there argued that “Wittertainment is not a word. I couldn’t find it on Google”. Actually, not found on Google is probably the best definition of a new word today.
Anyway, 10 years later, a Google search for “Wittertainment” produces almost 40 thousand results.
And Rocky Balboa was number 1 movie at the UK box office that week in 2007!
