A 'solid piece of work' is a phase used by Mark to describe a film that he likes but does not quite have what it takes to make [Movie of the Week](Movie_of_the_Week).

Solid pieces of work can be blockbusters or small films. The 2016 Philip Roth adaptation _Indignation_ was described by Mark as both a solid piece of work **and** an [Odd little film](Odd_little_film).
