# Chortle

During a round up of The Lady in the Van the word chortle was used to refer to another film from that week that did not pass [The Six Laugh Test](The_Six_Laugh_Test), and indeed "did not raise a chuckle or a chortle".

There was some argument as to whether or not chortle was a [Portmanteau word](Portmanteau_word). It is. Simon was right, and whisper it quietly but Mark was wrong.

It was also established that a chortle is inherently funnier than a chuckle, as it is a chuckle plus a snort.
