In his third book, [Hatchet Job](Hatchet_Job), Mark described himself thusly:
> "I love [Mary Poppins](Mary_Poppins) and [Dougal And The Blue Cat](Dougal_And_The_Blue_Cat), I hate [talking in the cinema](Moviegoers_Code_of_Conduct) and [substandard projection](Zac_Efron), I am overly forgiving of [reprehensible seventies exploitation pictures](The_Last_House_On_The_Left), and [overly judgemental of modern comedies](Judd_Apatapatow) for which I apparently have a tin ear. I have a stupid name and a stupid [haircut](Quiff), am slightly overweight, and apparently my voice can [annoy people at fifty yards](Alan_Davies). I am given to [repetition](Wall_E), and I am given to [repetition](Silent_Running). I once got shot at with [Werner Herzog](Werner_Herzog) and [told off](The_Queen) by [Helen Mirren](Helen_Mirren). I am not related to Frank Kermode. In the eighties I was on the cover of the Manchester magazine Gay Life. I used to play bass in the house band for [Danny Baker](Danny_Baker)'s TV show After All. I (still) think [The Exorcist](The_Exorcist) is the [greatest movie ever made](Mark_Kermode's_All_Time_Top_10_Best_Films_Evs)."
Mark is not the [President of the ATP Tour](https://web.archive.org/web/20200811062254/http://www.atpworldtour.com/en/corporate/management).
It has recently come to light that one of Dr K's absolutely favourite things is to take a very hot bath whilst reading [Private Eye](Private_Eye) and drinking an ice cold Asahi beer (other hop based, brewed beverages are available).
