Whenever the name of the Trainspotting, [Slumdog Squarepants](Slumdog_Squarepants) and 127 Hours director is mentioned, [Mark](Mark_Kermode) cannot resist turning it into the traditional Irish song "oh Danny boy." Neither, it turns out, could the director's own father.
If it wasn't for [Wittertainment](Wittertainment), Oh Danny Boyle would never have been asked to run the [Olympic Opening Ceremony](Olympic_Opening_Ceremony). This is a fact - London 2012 co-ordinator Seb Coe met Danny Boyle after Coe had been interviewed on the [Daily Mayo](Daily_Mayo) and before Boyle's own appearance on the Film Review Show. Simon actually said to Coe words to the effect of "we've got Danny Boyle in later, how about him for director of the opening ceremony", and shortly afterwards the two were seen deep in conversation behind the studio glass.
